Columbia has just been chosen in the Rowing Almanac as the #5 place to retire and row.

Morgan Barr and Andrew Askins of CRC Youth Rowing launch at the Head of the South on the Savannah River in Augusta, GA, on their way to a fourth place finish in the Men's Youth 2X with a time of 18:54.60. Chase Cowart competed in the Men's Youth 1X and also finished fourth, with a time of 18:37.8 only 3 seconds out of medalling. Cierra Stanislaus and West Watson finished second in the Mixed Youth 2X with a time of 18:54.90. Coach George Park also competed in the HOTS finishing fourth in the Men's Masters (F,G,H,I...) 1X. A large contingent of CRC supporters who took in the beautiful day on the Savannah River and saw some exciting rowing.

Congratulation to Cierra Stanislaus of CRC Youth Rowing who competed last weekend with Charlotte Youth Rowing at the Head of the 'Hooch in Chattanooga, TN. Cierra and her partner finished 6th in Mixed Youth 2X having never rowed together. She also put in a strong showing in the Women's Youth 4+. Way to go Cierra!

CRC Youth Rowing won Silver and Bronze at the Secret City Head Race in Oak Ridge, TN, on Saturday, October 31. West Watson and Cierra Stanislaus won Silver in the Mixed Youth 2X. Chase Cowart won Bronze in the Men's Youth 1X. Andrew Askins and Morgan Barr also participated. Congratulations to the whole team. George Park also competed and won Silver in the Men's Veterans 1X

The First Annual Head of the Broad Invitational Regatta was a tremendous success! Go to the Head of the Broad page for results and more information, and check out the pictures too. It was all done for a great cause, to benefit our Youth Rowing Program and make it accessible to youth in the Midlands, regardless of their background or financial resources. Watch this video from ABC News to see what we are aiming for.
On Saturdays at 10:00 am and on Sundays at 4:00 pm, join other club members for "Community Row". Please be there on time so we can put boats together and not leave anyone out of a boat. Carol Pardun is doing a fantastic job organizing this. If you would like to be on her distribution list, please email Carol.

All members are encouraged to challenge the current "Fastest Boat on the Broad" and claim the distinction for yourself.
The Safety Committee will offer swim tests on a regular basis. Please contact Sid Morrison.
We offer a free Introduction to Rowing on the first Saturday morning of each month at 9:30 am.
We are enrolling people for our Learn to Row Class program. Contact Martin Shaffer if you are interested in taking our 4-session Learn to Row Class. It does not matter if you are new to the sport and never tried rowing before or if you were a member before and want to freshen up on what you learned a while ago. Everyone is invited to come.The cost is $40 and class size is limited. To reserve a spot in the next class or for more information please contact Martin Shaffer.
